Dartstriangular folds which shapes a fabric to natural curves of the body

Tucks-a fold in a fabric which is stitched down to add fullness to the garment

Pleats-folds in a garment done to the waistline of skirts, yokes and sleeves at equal distance to release fullness

Gathers-used to distribute fullness in a given area 

Shirring-formed with multiple rows of gathering and is primarily a decorative way of controlling fullness
